Summary AI
Summary AI[edit]
Jank overview
This is Janky overview of how the long term memory summariser works, it needs rewriting but for now it offers a better explanation than none
Long term memory over view
It's important to realise that the AIs don't technically have a memory, There's something happing in the background that is building the long term memory and it some times misses the key points - This is done by the Summary AI
Basically Storyteller AI gets sent all the instructions for the world, and the full outputs of the last few turns and the 'long term memory'. The Storyteller AI then looks at all this, and your turn prompt and then generates the next turn for you. So it's got access to exact info from the last few turns and the long term memory.
Periodically an the Summary AI (lion currently) builds the long term memory by scanning those last few turns, then creating and/or adding to a summary the events it thought it where key, based on the summary instructions.
The Summary AI then then saves just those key events to the 'long term memory', binning the turns it just looked at.
So you always have 'Instructions' + 'a few turns' + 'long term memory' - If certain details details never made it to the long term memory when the turns are binned it's 'forgotten'.
Improving memory
When playing a world that you've not made that you've been playing - You can go in to the story editor, via story teller mode, and just write the facts you think it's forgotten in to the main instructions.
If you're making the world from scratch, or editing another - You can use a combination of tracked items to help memory. There's also some more advanced instructions in the world builder you can use to better structure how the long term memory is made - making it concentrate on areas - using the summary instructions
