Player action[edit]

The player action is exactly what you had written in the "Or type any action you want below:" (6) box from the previous turn.

Story output[edit]

This is the open ongoing story as written buy the Storyteller AI. IT's based on the result of lots of factors within the story, and then produced by the Storyteller AI, and is the area the player is intended to read and then react to with a new action.

Character Button[edit]

Char sheet Annotated.png

When you click the character button, the character sheet will be shown on screen. This is some, but not all of the information the AI has on your character.

1. The Character name

2. The Character description - This is the same as was shown on the character selection screen. This is taken from world's player character selection screen. It's important to note that the example shown here is unique to this example world. Each world creator will choose their own way to do this.

3. Character skills - Shows the current levels of each character skill and a description of the level, these skills are all rated out of 5, with 5 being the most skilled and 1 being the least skilled. These can change thought the game.

Tracked items[edit]

Tracked items only.png

Clicking the tracked item button will expand the Tracked Items section. This appears below the main story and above the buttons. These are separated into different items and are in italics. In the example there are:

  • Shop features: Pâtisserie fridge, Board game library
  • Shop notes: Dusty Cabinets - Need cleaning, Fridges empty - Needs stocking, Till empty - Needs Float

Each of these are defined by the world builder, and will operate in completely different ways. They can show very complex information or very simple.

Suggested actions[edit]

This section shows some actions that the Storyteller AI has suggested for the turn. These suggestions can be tweaked by the world builder. When clicked, they OVERWRITE what is in the Player action box, so beware. you can then add to these default actions by typing in the player action box.

Sample input annotated.png

Player Action Box[edit]

This is the box with "Or type any action you want below:" above it. It is an expandable free text box, and you can type any action or actions you want to do in here. They can be explicit actions, feelings, or thoughts to guide the story.

It's worth remembering when adding actions to the Player Action Box that the Storyteller AI evaluates the likelihood of these being successful. Part of the game is that some action may feel or play out in different ways to those intended, based on the instructions for the world.

Pressing 'Enter' on your keyboard will submit the action, if you wish to have a new line use 'Shift+Enter' to create a new line.

Take Action[edit]

Pressing the take action button submits your action to the interface for the Storyteller AI to write the new turn.

Previous turn[edit]

This button returns to the previous turn, stepping the game back 1 turn. If you do, this will open some other options to you.

  • Be able to then step back to any turn number you choose.
  • Be able to load from the turn you have gone back to

Remember that, when you load from an earlier turn, all progress from the loaded turn onwards will be completely lost, so remember to save if you want to keep your progress.

Regenerate turn[edit]

This button regenerates the current turn. This brings up a popup box that allows you to alter the prompt to the AI, to try to get different outcomes. Keep in mind that regenerating the turn is charged at the same rate as taking a new turn, This is not free.

Storyteller Mode[edit]

With storyteller mode active, a number of new options become available to you, but also will probably expose you to spoilers. It's worth keeping in mind that storyteller mode might reveal some special behind the scenes magic the world builder has designed to offer an immersive experience, but aren't actually designed for the player to see.

Tracked items[edit]

Hidden tracked items.png

Storyteller mode can reveal a new set of tracked items that the player would not normally see. These are usually for mechanical features in the world, created by the World builder. They function the same as the normal tracked items.

1. In red shows the normal visible tracked items

2. In blue shows the hidden tracked items that will only be shown when the storyteller mode has been enabled

You can see from the 2 types of information, the normal tracked items are for the player to see whereas the hidden ones show more world building items.

Edit Tracked items[edit]

The notepad icon opens the interface to manually edit the tracked items. Each tracked item is presented in a text box that you can change and save as you like.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL here, some items may have been specifically set up to work in certain formats. Changing these items could have serious effects on the game.

Secret information[edit]

SI annotated.png

The secret information section is revealed when clicking on the 'eye' icon. Secret information is a supplementary hidden part of the story written by the Storyteller AI. This typically contains background events and hidden information, but this area is often used by world builders in complex ways to increase the depth and complexity of the game.

1. In blue, you can see the secret information discussing world building and setting information from the Storyteller AI. It's valuable information for the AI to tell a good story, but not *part* of the story.

Edit Turn[edit]

The little pen icon is the Edit turn function. When clicked, this opens the in-depth turn editor. This allows you to manually edit every line of text in the turn, including the text in Secret information.

  • At the bottom you will see the icon to reveal the Secret information to edit it
  • Below that you will see 'View/edit World design', This will open up the World editor for this world
  • Cancel - This voids any changes you've made to the text in the 'your action', 'outcome', and 'secret information' sections.
  • OK - Confirms the changes you have made and returns to the story.

Storyteller action[edit]

The storyteller action box appears in storyteller mode. This box is very powerful and will tell the Storyteller AI what the outcome for the next turn will be. This heavily influences the story and forces the Storyteller AI to follow the text here.

This box can sometimes be greyed out and blocked if the world builder has set an internal game trigger that uses it. If this is the case, you will not be able to use the Storyteller action for the turn the trigger is using it.

You can also use the Storyteller action to do some neat things like have the Storyteller AI skip time, illustrate a new character, change your character to a new character, and lot of other things.
